(FBE). At the end of application period, the applications are compiled by the
Department Graduate Studies Advisor according to the criteria presented below and
presented to the Academic Board of the Department after consulting with the
Department Acceptance Committee. The Academic Board of the Department, then,
finalizes the lists for accepted, denied and reserved applications, again
according to the criteria presented below, and presents to FBE for approval.

graduate studies quotas and minimum application conditions. Related

relevant articles of the B.U. Regulations on Graduate Education.
4) No students are accepted to the quotas of the
Department's Graduate Programs at the School of Foreign Languages during the
pre-acceptance periods. That is, applications during the pre-acceptance period
are sought to document that "the applicant's English level conforms to the FBE

5) Following the application period, applicant's Grade
Point Average (GPA) from the higher education institution that he/she has
graduated (or will graduate), the base point (TB) of the academic
program (according to the University Placement Test) that he/she has graduated

(M) are taken into consideration in the evaluation procedure as described in
Article (1).
6) The applicants must be in top 10% or higher percentile in
Academic Staff and Graduate Education Test (ALES) or equivalent tests.
7) Evaluation is perfomed as follows:
a) At the first stage, a pre-elimination is done
according to GPA, TB and ALES results. For this purpose, Normalized Grade Point
Average (NGPA), Normalized Bse Point (NTB) and Normalized Academic Staff and Graduate Education Test
grade (NALES) are used and a Weighed Grade (AN) is calculated for every
applicant according to the formula below.
AN = 50 + 10*(0.45*NGPA + 0.28*NTB + 0.27*NALES)
Those applicants with a grade lower than a predetermined level
are eliminated.
b) An interview is made with the qualified applicants:
every applicant invited for an interview receives an interview grade (M)
between 50-100, by the interview jury. Next, for every applicant, Normalized
Interview Grade (NM) and Normalized Weighed Grade (NAN) is calculated and the
Evaluation Grade (DN) is determined according to the below formula.
DN = 50 + 10*(0.70*NAN + 0.30*NM)
That is, 70% of the factors used in the calculation of "AN" is
taken and 30% of "NM" is added on this. The students qualify according to the
DN ranking are placed to the relevant classes, taking quotas into
consideration.
