Boğaziçi University, founded in 1863, is one of the major institutions of higher
learning in Turkey. Boğaziçi University combines a university's emphasis on
scholarship, research and quality resources with a college's commitment to education
and attention to the individual student.
The Industrial Engineering Department is one of the most prominent Departments
of the University. The Department was founded in October 1973.
Our mission is to provide students with the basic scientific and engineering methods
toward improved design and management of production, service and socio-economic
systems; to equip the students with the skills necessary for systems approach,
teamwork, leadership and critical thinking; to create an awareness of
professional ethics and social and environmental consciousness; to lay down the
foundations for further scientific development and application/dissemination of
the acquired skills and knowledge in the society.
Acceptance to the freshmen class is very competitive. For the last 10 years,
in order to be accepted to our freshmen class one had to be in the top 0.03%
of those who took the University Placement Test given by the Central Placement
Board of the Turkish Higher Education Council.
The undergraduate program of the Industrial Engineering Department is accredited
by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET)
along with all other Engineering Departments of the University.
